Blinding Rejection is Part of this Path
Read that title again. I can't explain why this is, but I have been studying this reality all week. My conclusion: ouch. Being on this path doesn't mean that we don't have feelings about our stories or our journey; it simply means that we are in surrender to and in search of something higher than ourselves. Whether you call it God, the Divine, the Light, or the Universe, the invitation is the same: to become less attached to our own stories and more attentive to the One who is writing it.
Your path is bigger than your own, your impact larger than those left by your shoes. And so, pain has been a tremendous part of the pathway. Lately, I have been meditating on the pain of rejection. Those of us with deeply empathetic hearts often love so fiercely that we instinctively pour ourselves into another person, hoping that if they are okay, we will be okay too. We stuff ourselves into others to survive our own big experience in a tumultuous existence.
And eventually, this is met with blinding rejection, maybe once, maybe twice, or maybe a thousand times the heart is broken until it realizes that that love was never yours. It was never meant to be hidden in someone else but was designed by our Creator to shine light into the world. The love you know you hold is powerful because it is part of the thread that holds us all together. It was only ever meant to shine through you as a glorious reflection of the Divine.
So dear readers, I hope you take a moment to acknowledge the pain of your rejections, but do not stop there. Let's hold each other when it is hard in the healthiest way--not by shutting down but by encouraging those around you to shine brighter. You weren't born to be a potato bug hiding away but rather a firefly, lighting up in love.

This is Fern again, because we love him. It is impossible to spend time with goats and not end up either laughing or annoyed. The antics are the same, but choose play.
